Lila: One Year!

I can't even believe that I am writing this post. My baby is officially ONE! All through out the day today I've done a little play by play in my head of this day last year (FYI: I started writing this post on her actual birthday and am finishing it up a week later!)  It's 9:30pm right now, and she was born at 9:26pm- so this time last year she was officially a couple minutes old. I remember those first moments after she was born so well. I just remember when they first placed her on my chest thinking "she is mine". I felt so much love for her. I definitely felt like we had a relationship, but I didn't feel like I "knew" her. This year I have come to know her and her beautiful spirit. She has gone from a tiny little newborn to an energetic, walking, curious, sweet girl with big blue eyes.

I've had fun going back and reading all the monthly posts I've written about her. It's been amazing to see all the things she has learned. I've loved watching her grow and learn new things this year. Most of all I have just loved being her mama. She has brought so much happiness into my life. Yes, there have been hard moments, and I know there are more hard moments ahead, but I am so grateful for every moment I have spent with her. She has helped me more fully learn love, charity, patience, selflessness, understanding, and what's most important. I'll love you forever sweet Lila Jane! You'll always be my baby even though you are turning into a toddler.

I've been waiting to put this picture collage together all year! 12 months of Lila!

Here's what she's been up to this past month:
  • Lila is walking! Like, for real. She hardly crawls at all anymore. She's all about walking and loves it!
  • She got RSV this past month. It was her first time being really sick. She was just miserable! The only plus side is that she cuddled with me (which she never does usually). But she's all better now, except for a linger cough that doesn't seem to want to go away.
  • She's got 4 teeth coming in on the top. 3 out of the 4 have poked through. There's still on more that should be joining the party any day now!
  • She loves stuffed animals. She'll cuddle with them and carry them around and play with them.
  • She's discovered noses. Haha! She'll try to "honk" and point at Paul and I's noses. And will point at the noses on all her stuffed animals.
  • She lets me put bows in her hair and keeps them in! I've been trying for months and she'd always pull them out, so I'm pretty excited!
  • Lila is also obsessed with dogs. They are the highlight of our walks. She'll spot one way off in the distance and start pointing to it and making her "doggie sounds"
  • Her new favorite thing to do is throw everything off the side of her high chair. All. the. time. Not just when she's done. She loves watching it fall down and then will point to it. She thinks it's funny when I tell her "No, no" So I've been doing a lot of sweeping and mopping lately.
  • She loves looking out the window and waving goodbye to Dad as he drives off for work. She looks at his car and saves until he's out of sight. So sweet!
PS- This will be the last monthly post I'll do about Lila. I might do some updates every couple months or something? But really I wanted to keep a record of her first year- just because I knew she would grow and change so much every month.

Loving the balloon she got from the grocery store

The first time she kept a bow in her hair!

Swings are her favorite

Her heart shaped pancake on Valentine's morning

Still in shock and pointing after seeing some horses on our walk

Holding Dad's hand at the park

Sick snuggles

More snuggles with her cloud pillow

When your sick you get to eat popsicles in your jammies!

More snuggles with mama

Balloons are the best!

Who knew these would be so fun to play with? If she only knew...

52 card pick up!

Walking around the house like a big girl!

She figured out how to climb on the dishwasher. This makes the dishwasher even cooler than before!

"Reading" a book by herself. Such a wonderful sight!

Playing in a box

Girls night when Grandma Wheeler was out visiting

Sitting with Grandma Wheeler

And my favorite... it's super blurry. But seriously, how can she fall asleep like that?!
