Back to Blogging

Well I started this blog this summer in the hopes of keeping everyone updated on our lives. Seeing as the last time I've blogged was the beginning of July... I haven't been doing very well. But I am going to start being better!

Our most exciting news is that we are expecting a baby!

I am 22 weeks right now. So we are over half way there- wooohooo!!!

The beginning of this pregnancy was pretty rough. Weeks 6-13 were some of the hardest weeks of my life physically. I had all day sickness to the extreme. Not fun! I lived on popcorn and cran-apple juice (those were really the only things I could keep down), lost 15 pounds, had a lovely trip to the ER from dehydration, tried 4 different anti-nausea meds, lost my newly aquired job because I couldn't pass a physical test from being to sick, and seriously considered just having one child. Haha! I know that there are people who have it even worse and are sicker than I was and are sick for the whole 9 months (bless them!) or aren't able to have children at all. So I really can't complain. But I am so glad I had Paul. He did such a good job taking care of me. He pretty much did EVERYTHING on top of working long days at his new job.

Now things are so much better and I feel like a normal person again! Hooray! We found out a couple weeks ago what we're having. We both were feeling like it was a girl. I even started buying some baby girl clothes before we knew. Paul thought I was crazy. But we turned out to be RIGHT! It's a GIRL!!!! It was so special seeing her on the screen at the ultrasound. It was our first ultrasound- so it just made it so much more real for the both of us to see her wiggly around in there. She's healthy and doing great- which really was the most important thing to us.

My belly is growing and I can feel baby girl Heinzen kicking away in there. I finally bought some maternity pants- so comfy!! I might never go back to real pants. Right now I'm enjoying the 2nd trimester where I'm not sick anymore and still not uncomfortably huge. I have a nannying job a couple times a week taking care of two sweet girls ages 3 & 6 mo. And then I also pick up 3 sweet girls in my ward from school everyday. It's been good "mommy training" and is perfect because it has given me something to do without completely tiring me out!

My weirdest pregnancy symptom are these CRAZY dreams I have. They are so intense and usually my dreams involve me getting super angry at people and screaming at them or they are super vivid nightmares. I feel like a little kid again... afraid to go asleep at night because of my scary dreams haha!

The only consistent craving I've had so far is popcorn. It started off as the only thing I could keep down at the beginning- but I still love it. I eat it everyday without fail. I've pretty much tried every style of popcorn (air popped, in a bag, movie theater popcorn, Target popcorn, microwave popcorn, different flavors- cheese, carmel, white chocolate) and brand (my fave is Pop Secret Homestyle microwave popcorn). Yum! I'm getting hungry just writing about popcorn!

Anyway, that's our update. We are so excited to have this sweet little girl join our family. There are a lot of things we don't know and sometimes we feel a little nervous about being parents. But we feel at peace and trust in Heavenly Father and know that everything will work out! And I will be a lot better about blogging.

  3. So glad you're feeling better! I can totally relate. My 1st trimester was AWFUL as well. Only toast and watermelon worked for me. When is your due date?? I think our baby girls are due around the same time! March 13? I've told our baby she's welcome to come early or late, so long as she's healthy. I'm flexible :)
