Christmas Time

I love Christmas time! It's just the best, and this year was no exception.

The day after we got back from our trip to Thanksgiving we went and got a Christmas tree. We debated on whether or not to get a real one or fake one. Fake ones make sense- you can have them for multiple years, they always look perfect, you don't have to worry about needles dropping or them catching on fire. But there is just something about a real tree that I love. I love the smell. I love going to get them and picking one out. I love that real trees have ugly spots and you have to figure out how to position them so they look just right.

Anyway, the real tree won (this year anyway). We got a little baby "Charlie Brown" tree. Since we weren't going to actually be here for Christmas, we thought we would just get something small. All of our neighbors had their beautiful trees all lit in their front windows, but because our tree was so small you couldn't even really see it in the window. So we put it on top of a box and voila! from the window it looked like a regular tree. Haha!

Our little baby tree we tried to make bigger by putting on a box haha

We definitely need to work on our Christmas decorations though... we kind of look like Scrooges. We didn't have any lights up. I made a wreath to put on our front door, so it looked like we actually celebrate Christmas. We'll be better next year.

The weeks leading up to Christmas were just right. We did fun "Christmasy stuff", but it didn't feel stressful or crazy. We went caroling, watched the Christmas devotional, drank hot chocolate, made Christmas treats, and listened to A LOT of Christmas music.

This happened a lot during December...
Hot chocolate date
All cozy with our blanket watching the Christmas devotional
Decorating Christmas cookies- 6 dozen!!

And we celebrated our 2nd anniversary! Before getting married, I always wanted to have a spring/summer wedding with nice, beautiful weather. But just the timing of when Paul and I met and decided we wanted to get married it was either get married in December or wait 5 more months till spring (and that was not going to happen haha!) But I loved getting married in December and I love now having our anniversary be in December. It's just a happy time filled with love, lights, and coziness.

My favorite man with my favorite food!

Blurry picture walking around in Old Town. Happy 2 years!
We celebrated our anniversary by going to Bisetti's in Old Town. We had heard awesome things about it and decided to check it out. Paul and I are both Italian food lovers and it was delicious! I just wish I had more room to eat MORE. It was that good! Old Town was covered in lights and we enjoyed talking and walking around together. I feel so blessed to be married to Paul. I loved Paul and knew he was amazing when we got married. But time has made me love him even more and realize that he is a far more amazing person and husband then I ever knew. He is just what I need in so many ways. I will just leave it at that :) So that was our couple weeks leading up to Christmas. I'll do another post about spending Christmas with my family in Virginia.
