Baby Update- 33 weeks

I am 33 weeks now and time has really just flown by! The first half of my pregnancy felt like it was dragging on for FOREVER. The second half has gone by so much faster. I think the fact that I’m feeling a lot better than I was during the first half has something to do with it. And also having the holidays as well. But the end is getting close! 7 more weeks (give or take?) I’m just hoping it’s not more than 7 weeks haha!

Our baby girl is doing great. She’s moving around. I feel more wiggles and rolls now instead of big kicks… I think things are starting to get a little more cramped in there.  My favorite thing is when she gets the hiccups. Ahhh I love it!

At my last appointment, a couple days ago, they said I was measuring a little small (which is funny because I definitely don’t feel small!). I’m measuring around 31 weeks instead of 33. My midwife said it isn’t a big deal as long as she’s within a couple weeks of what she’s supposed to be at. I guess our babe is just a little petite girl? Which, as long as she is healthy, is totally fine with me. I would much rather push out a smaller baby than a huge chunker baby! Her head is also down- so she is all ready in the position to come!

Paul and I started birthing classes last week. Our first class I was looking around at all the other pregnant ladies and their bellies looked so small. I was seriously huge compared to them! We started going around and introducing ourselves and saying when our babies are due. Come to find out... everyone in our class is due at the end of April or May. I was the only one due in March. No wonder I’m so big compared to them! I guess we’re getting a late start on these classes?

We are really enjoying the classes though. I’ve definitely learned a lot and it’s helped me solidify my decision to try to have a natural birth. I really have nothing against women who get epidurals… no judgment at all. And who knows? Maybe I’ll end up getting one? But I want to try to go as far as I can naturally. Honestly I don’t know how labor will be or how my body will react. I’m trying to keep an open mind, so if things don’t go how I “planned” I won’t be disappointed.

Overall I’m feeling pretty good. Things are definitely getting more uncomfortable as I get bigger. I toss and turn more while sleeping and sitting this weekend for 2 hours at Stake Conference on those hard metal chairs was definitely not my favorite thing. But really I can’t complain.

We are still deciding on a name. We have our “Top 3”. There is one name that we are leaning towards more than the others. But we just feel like we can’t decide until we look at her. So, we’ll just let it be a surprise for everyone. All our names our pretty feminine sounding. Heinzen is kind of a strong last name, so not all first names sound great with Heinzen.  For example: we really liked the name Hazel. But "Hazel Heinzen" together... yeah, there are just too many h's and z's and it just sounds kind of scary. So we're going for more of a softer name :)

Since coming back from traveling during the holidays we’ve been more serious about getting things ready for the baby. I’ve done some sewing projects- a nursing cover and car seat cover.  I still want to make some cloud pillows for the baby’s room. And my mom is making a quilt for the crib. We bought a rocker/glider on Craigslist last week. I love it! I’ve been going into the baby’s room everyday and just sitting and rocking in the chair. This weekend we are planning on getting a crib and some kind of dresser. The one thing I’m still debating on is what kind of travel system I want. There are so many options and they are just so expensive in general. I know we have well over a month to get things ready, but the OCD part of me just wants to have everything ready and set up JUST IN CASE she comes early and so I can have peace of mind that everything is ready for her.

Anyway, that’s the update. We are definitely getting more and more excited for our sweet baby girl to come.

Oh, and I'm excited to share these maternity pictures too! My sis-in-law Kaitlin, took these back when we were in Virginia around Christmas time. So I was like 29 weeks? or maybe 30? in these pictures. She did a really good job! I'm so glad I have these to look back on one day.
