Wheeler Road Trip Part 1: Rocklin

I went home to Rocklin to see my brother, Miles, who had just gotten home from his mission in Tempe Arizona. I saw him a couple days after he got home-- just in time for his homecoming talk.

My family is moving back out to D.C. and is driving across the country to get there. Since I don't have a job for the summer I decided to join them on their epic road trip. Paul couldn't come out because he just started his new job and couldn't get a lot of time off work. So I went by myself. It was our first time being apart since we got married. It was a long 13 days to be apart. But we did do a lot of this... (thank goodness for technology!!)

I left Friday night, June 21. It was already a late flight. I originally wasn't supposed to land until 11:30 p.m. But that night Southwest had some huge computer issues and all Southwests flights were delayed for a couple hours-- not so fun! Luckily I had my chocolate covered pomegranates I had bought for the trip with me. I thought they would last me a couple days, but I ate a whole bag just waiting for the flight. They finally decided to put us on the flight manually without the computers. I ended up landing around 2 a.m. and went to bed around 3:30. But I made it!

It was so fun to be all together again as a family. We hadn't been all together since Christmas of 2008. I went on my mission, then Collin went on his mission, and then Miles went on his and left a month before Collin came home. We took some much needed family pictures (so excited to see those!) I got some pics of all the sibs together.

We also had a bridal shower for Kaitlin-- my soon to be sister-in-law. Her and Collin are getting married the end of July. So it worked out perfect for me to be able to be out there for it! Kaitlin is so sweet and kind. Can't wait for her to be in the fam!

Sunday Miles gave his homecoming talk and right after we had a big Wheeler Fiesta/Dessert Fest with all of my extended family. Between all the fun stuff, we helped pack up the rest of the house and cleaned. Monday we finished packing everything up and headed down to Southern California-- our first stop on the road trip.
