Las Vegas was a first for me as well! I had been in the airport lots of time flying from Salt Lake to Sacramento when I was at BYU, but I'd never set foot in the city. We drove from Las Angeles to Las Vegas and ended up getting to Vegas in the afternoon. It was SO HOT outside, we decided to wait and walk the Strip at night when it was cooler, and it's probably more fun to see at night anyway. We went around 5:00 and it was still scorching as you can see... and it really didn't get any better the rest of the night. By the time we got home around 11 p.m. it still was above 100 degrees.
We first stopped at the Belaggio and looked at their conservatory and botanical gardens. Everything was so beautiful and ornate. It really just felt like a palace.
We went outside and watched the fountain show-- which was really impressive!
Then we walked down the Strip towards Treasure Island and then walked all the way down the Strip to The Luxor. It was quite the walk. I wore some sandals that are usually really comfy for walking around, but by the end of the night my feet were killing me from all the walking around. We ended up taking a taxi back because we were all too tired to walk back.
Las Vegas was fun. I'm glad I had the chance to experience it. There are definitely some beautiful buildings and fun stuff to do, but I don't know if I'd go again. Not really my type of scene.
